Dr Carl Baugh tells us what our atmosphere was like in the past which explains how dinosaurs could exist and why man was larger and lived longer than today. Review with Biblical Admonition: Dr. Carl Baugh was referring to the Noah’s flood in the book of Genesis chapter 7.
Before the flood, the earth was created with a firmament canopy of water above, approximately 11 miles high above the ground. It means that there was water above the earth aside from the water below, see Gen. 1:6-8, 2 Pet. 3:5. Because of the water firmament above the earth, the earth was protected from the harmful radiation of the sun and other stellar bodies. The water firmament was also used to filtered out the ultra violet rays of the sun.
The word firmament was translated heavens or part of the heavens. There are three kinds of heaven:
First Heaven – the atmospheric Heaven, “ And the floodgates of the heavens were opened. And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights. (Genesis 7:11-12). {this was the water firmament that Dr. Carl Baugh was referring to, and that was the reason why there was such a flood that destroyed the earth because this first heaven was opened along with the great deep from the ground, Gen. 8:11 says, “In the six hundredth year of Noah’s life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.}-Deeper than that, the reason why there was such a flood that destroyed all the inhabitants except Noah and those who were with him in the ark was because of the people’s wickedness. Anti-Christian sceptics often denounce the Bible as teaching a faulty cosmology because they can’t believe that there was such a kind of solid big dome over the earth. It’s really hard to believe or understand but remember God is God, he can create anything out of nothing even beyond our understanding or imagination.
Second Heaven – the planetary Heaven, “ God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness (Genesis 1:17-18). The stars, sun and moon and other stellars are the planetary heaven, it was above the water firmament.
Third Heaven – Where God, Jesus and the angels dwell, “I must go on boasting. Although there is nothing to be gained, I will go on to visions and revelations from the Lord. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven. Whether it was in the body or out of the body I do not know–God knows. And I know that this man–whether in the body or apart from the body I do not know, but God knows– was caught up to paradise. He heard inexpressible things, things that man is not permitted to tell. I will boast about a man like that, but I will not boast about myself, except about my weaknesses. Even if I should choose to boast, I would not be a fool, because I would be speaking the truth. But I refrain, so no one will think more of me than is warranted by what I do or say. (2Corinthians 21:1-6)
Advantages of people who lived before the flood:
1. Can live longer, that was why Adam lived 930 years. Unlike today, you’re blessed if you can still reach 80 but given a chance to live before the flood, it will be multiplied by 12, you can live up to 960 years. Methuselah reached 969 years.
2. Can think intelligibly even high above Albert Heinstein intelligence
3. An open wound can be healed overnight, while today is up to 14 days. 4. Crops and vegetation can grow bigger and larger
5. Man can run up to 200 miles without fatigue, may I add, can also jump higher than today’s famous basketball players, as what Dr. Carl Baugh stated on his other teachings.
After the flood, life span began to diminish, since then everything had changed, men became limited in everything and people have been suffering from every kind of disease, the world have been facing all sorts of problems, there’s the economic crisis, climate change, the threat of terrorism, rumors of wars, etc. This is the reason why God has to intervene, by the coming of Jesus back on the earth, He will restore everything just like the earth before the flood. There will be a new heaven and a new earth. Though there are still many sequences of events that’s going to take place between now up to the new heaven and earth like the Rapture, 7 years of tribulation, the Battle of Armageddon, the millennium reign of Christ, the battle of Gog and Magog, the Great White Throne of Judgment, one thing is sure, Jesus is coming back to make all things beautiful again.
The Bible is right then, 2 Peter 3: 3-7 says, ”Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.
But even then, God doesn’t want you to perish instead come to repentance, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”- 2 Peter 3:8-9.
